Project Information:

Our organization is a professional services team that builds digital products, ranging from marketing websites to entire SaaS platforms. We charge for our work based on two models: fixed scope/cost projects whose budgets are based on estimations (hrs x rate), or time & materials work, where we charge by the hour.

We have a large amount of historical project related data (e.g., individual tasks, estimations, actual hours by employee, labor costs, etc.), but need help pulling this into intelligent reporting for us to make some key inferences:

  • What are the key areas we fall short in our estimations, relative to actual time on projects, and how to we need to accommodate for this?
  • Do we have project types that are higher margins, and why?
  • Can we measure efficiency by project / project type / team member?
  • Can we accurately project completion costs / profitability during the lifecycle of a project?
  • What data / view are we missing to help answer these questions?
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
  • Analysis of both business model, project lifecycle processes, and data
  • Analysis of current reporting methods
  • Implementation of BI reporting
  • Review and analysis of reporting
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
  • Increase in accuracy of estimations
  • Increase in margins on projects
  • Increase in efficiency of team members
