About Strafford Regional Planning Commission

Established by state legislation in 1969, the regional planning commissions of New Hampshire serve in an advisory role to local governments and community organizations. The Strafford Regional Planning Commission is composed of 18 municipalities including all 13 in Strafford County, three in Rockingham County, and two in Carroll County. SRPC’s regional planning work is funded by multiple sources such as the NH Departments of Transportation and Environmental Services, the U.S. Economic Development Administration, and municipal contracts.

Our work program is framed by state statute and includes:
  • Developing a comprehensive regional plan that addresses land use, transportation, water resources, housing, economic development, emergency management, energy and other current topics.
  • Providing local technical assistance and fostering regional cooperation.

Key Program Activities: The Commission’s professional staff provide transportation, land use, economic development, hazard mitigation, water, public health, and natural resource planning services; geographic information systems (GIS) services; data collection and analysis; facilitation; and project management.
