| Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity | Covenant House New York (CHNY) is one of the nation’s largest adolescent care agencies serving homeless, runaway, and trafficked youth, serving over 1,600 youth a year through our continuum of residential and other wraparound services designed to move youth from homelessness to stability. The Program Compliance and Performance Measurement (PCPM) Department seeks to ensure compliance with relevant funders and government regulations and quality assurance, including requirements for case file documentation. We are currently embarking on a agency-wide effort to convert our program documentation from paper to fully digital case files. The PCPM Department is seeking to implement a more comprehensive training program on data entry and documentation compliance to compliment our transition from paper to digital files, in order to:
Project Location: 460 W 41st St. (corner of 41st St. and 10th Ave.), New York, NY 10036 |
| Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required | Students interested in corporate social responsibility will develop comprehensive training materials for program staff in a wide variety of program areas, including our short-term crisis shelter, our transitional living programs, and our permanent housing programs (where formerly homeless youth reside in apartments). These materials will include sample digital case files, videos, and written guides that are user-friendly and accessible to staff with varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
These activities will be specific to each program’s structure and compliance requirements, while promoting cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed practice. The PCPM Department will provide students with relevant training and tutorials on how to use our database and create quality sample case files. |
| Project Synopsis: Expected Results | Our goal is to create a library of training materials and ongoing resources for staff in order to improve documentation. By improving documentation, our staff can then track their workloads and communicate with each other more efficiently, which will lead to improved quality of services and outcomes for our youth.
